FAQs

How do I establish care with Southington Pediatric Associates?

The first step is to give us a call at (860) 621-8331 so we can introduce ourselves and help to guide you through the process of becoming a new patient. If you’d like to come in for a visit, we can schedule a tour where you’ll meet available physicians, see the office, and make sure we are the right fit. If you choose us for your child’s care, we will assist you with the necessary paperwork. For new parents, we ask that you call and schedule your first appointment with us the day after your baby is born.

What are your hours?

Southington Pediatric Associates is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm for appointments. Providers are also on call after hours for emergencies.

Can I have the same doctor for all visits?

Yes, you have the option of choosing your own provider for regularly scheduled appointments. For acute visits and same-day appointments, you may request a provider. If that provider is not available, you will be seen by the first available physician.

Is there always someone on call?

After hours, the phone is answered by an answering service and the physician on call will get back to you. If it is an urgent problem the answering service will page the physician and they will get back to you immediately.

Do you participate in most health plans?

We participate in every major health insurance plan. We will submit all bills for you whether you have a deductible plan, an HMO, or private insurance. We also participate in Connecticut’s Medicaid program.

Do you give advice over the phone?

During office hours, we are always available via phone and your questions will be answered by a receptionist, nurse, or doctor depending on the type of information you need. Messages left for physicians are returned as soon as possible depending on urgency. Messages can also be left for physicians via our online patient portal system.

Do you have an electronic medical record system?

Yes, we do! You can access everything you need by clicking here

How can I transfer care to your office?

The first step is to call our office to register your child. We will ask you to fill out the required HIPAA form provided here and send it to your current doctor to have your child’s records transferred. We request a vaccine record at a minimum in order to schedule your child’s first appointment.

How can I transfer care out of your office?

You will need to fill out the appropriate HIPAA form provided here which will allow us to transfer records. We do that on a USB drive which can be picked up at our office or mailed out of state if required. We can usually process medical record transfers approximately one week after receiving the completed HIPAA form.

What is your policy on vaccines?

We strictly adhere to the AAP guidelines for vaccine administration and do not accept new patients if they refuse to vaccinate their children. If your child is unvaccinated and you want to become a patient, we will happily create a vaccination schedule for them in order to catch up.
